Bring Sanity to the Building Code Process

We need your help to educate legislators on the importance of passing SB 7000 and HB 901 to stabilize Florida’s ever-changing building code.

SB 7000 and HB 901 seek to change the way in which Florida’s building code is adopted. Current law requires the Florida Building Commission to adopt the International Code Council (ICC) model codes in totality as the base code then engage in the painstakingly flawed process of removing or changing what does not work for Florida. Every other rule or statutory change in Florida tracks proposed changes to the existing law and requires advocates to explain what is broken and how the proposal addresses the problem prior to adopting the amendment. This results in greater transparency and understanding of what is being changed.

Believe it or not, powerful forces are lining up to oppose this common sense bill! Tell your legislative delegation to bring sanity to the building code development process. Act today!

Helping is simple! Choose below the county where you live or work and you will be prompted to send an e-mail; pre-written and addressed to each member of your local legislative delegation. Make sure you have an email signature placed and just hit the send button. If you prefer, you may personalize the e-mail message before sending.
