In January of this year, FHBA Past President John “Chuck” Fowke formally put his name in “the ring” to be the next NAHB Third Vice Chairman. He has received many calls from fellow members giving him encouragement, endorsements and some contributions to help him out.
Chuck has been actively involved in civic, political and housing issues since the early eighties. He has sought to create effective change in our industry by working with national, state and local candidates and officials helping them understand how their decisions affect all of us. I believe he shows there is a clear difference between him and his opponent.
Over the decades, Chuck has served on many FHBA committees … too many to name. He chaired the following committees; Area Vice Presidents, Governmental Affairs, Legal Action, Industry Issues, Non-Dues Revenue, Finance, Insurance, Executive and FHBA’s Political Action Task Force. All of this participation and dedication made him ready for the next step which was to run for FHBA Leadership. Chuck served as FHBA’s President in 2010 which was one of the most financially challenging years for our association. Numerous difficult decisions had to be made and leadership was required. Chuck did not fail. He and his family feel that the time has come for him to offer himself as a servant at the NAHB level.
