FHBA Mourns the Passing of Executive Vice President Gail Kavanagh

Gail (Bosinoff) Kavanagh, 74, died May 4, 2017 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Gail was born in Waltham, MA and moved to Boca Raton in 1957.  She moved to Port St. Lucie in 1979 where she served for 32 years as Executive Vice President of the Treasure Coast Builders Association.

In 1991 she received the Seldon Hale Award by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) for Outstanding New Association Executive and in 1996 received the Career Achievement Award as an Association Executive, the only Executive Officer in the country to earn both designations.  She served on the NAHB Executive Officers Council from 1989 until 1992 and as President in 1991.  She served as a Board Member for the United Way in St. Lucie County from 2002 until 2010; and served as a Past Treasurer of Ft. Pierce Main Street Association and on the Ft. Pierce Advisory Board in 2004. Gail also served on the 19th Judicial Nominating Committee to select judges from 1995 until 1999; and she was also appointed by Gov. Bush to the St. Lucie County Expressway and Bridge Authority from 2001 until 2004; Gail was appointed to the Florida Inland Navigational District (F.I.N.D.) from 2008 to 2015 serving as Chair in 2014.  She served as a board member of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of St. Lucie, Okeechobee and Indian River Counties since 2006 and served as chairman in 2009.   Gail was also an active and long standing member of the St. Lucie County Republican Executive Committee elected as state committee woman serving from 2008 to 2012.

Gail was preceded in death by her husband George Kavanagh; her daughter Cindy (Sparks) Gida; son Gary Lunt; brother Ralph Bosinoff; and her parents Irving and Mabel Bosinoff.  Survivors include her sister and brother in law Esther and Jack Navin; her grandchildren Tonya, Taylor and Thomas Gida; son-in-law Guy Gida and great grandson Theo Thomas Hawes-Gida and many nieces and nephews.
