Florida Home Builders Association Sponsors New Certified Ratings Program

For Immediate Release:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., June 5, 2017 — Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) announces their sponsorship of a new Certified Rating Program; offering single family home builders access to secure independent energy ratings based on Florida’s Energy Code. “But we don’t stop with energy ratings,” says Rusty Payton, CEO/Chief Lobbyist of FHBA. “We’ve also partnered with Florida Water Star to combine Energy Rating and Water Star into a single cost-effective package for Program users.”

To service increasing demand for water efficiency and energy ratings in today’s market, FHBA selected Triconic, an independent administrator, to run the Program. Payton goes on to say, “Besides years of experience in the testing, inspection, and certification industry, Triconic brings to the Program world leaders like Intertek and UL (Underwriters Laboratories). Triconic, Intertek, and UL provide economies scale and national recognition, which gives the Program participants more choices and greater efficiencies for securing ratings.”

“Builders, their markets, and supply chains have long asked for reasonable, verified energy rating alternatives focused on their code needs but easily leveraged into rebate programs,” says Darrell Lehman, President and CEO of Triconic. “At Triconic, we focus on using existing abilities of certification Partners like Intertek, UL, Water Star, and existing Raters to quickly and efficiently give builders choices and access to certified ratings. We are proud to serve as the Program’s independent administrator,” says Darrell Lehman.

“Florida Water Star has achieved measured growth in its first 10 years, and we’re excited to continue the program’s expansion,” said St. Johns River Water Management District Executive Director Dr. Ann Shortelle. “Partnering with FHBA is a victory for water conservation as it brings the tools and training that help realize water savings to an even larger residential audience.”

FHBA will offer details on the program during their exhibit at the Building Officials Association of Florida (BOAF) Conference & Expo on June 12-13, 2017 at the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort/Ocean Walk Village in Daytona, Florida.
