Hurricane Preparation & Resources

Hurricane Irma is currently projected to impact Florida this weekend and into next week. While the exact track and strength are uncertain, Florida is likely to receive significant rain and bouts of stormy weather.

At this time, FHB Insurance’s (FHB) Builders Risk programs are on pause for the entire state of Florida until further notice. As a reminder, no coverage may be bound or increased and reinstatements may not be processed during this time. However, quotes may still be obtained and available for binding after the restriction has been lifted.

Once the rebuilding phase of the Irma aftermath begins, consumers will be prompted to seek assistance from licensed, reputable contractors. The FHBA worked with other construction related partners to establish The Disaster Contractors Network, which is a popular resource for Floridians to find available contractors following a hurricane. If you wish to be listed on the Disaster Constructors Network, click here to register.

FHBA also has updated contracts for members to use, including a Residential Rebuilding Agreement. Click here to download today.

Report unlicensed contractor activity by downloading the official Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation app. Click here to learn more.
