Florida Home Builders Association Honors Senator Jack Latvala, With Its Mike Davis Affordable Housing Award
For Immediate Release:
November 5, 2016 – The Florida Home Builders Association honored Sen. Jack Latvala, with its Mike Davis Affordable Housing Award, a recognition awarded by over 7,800 FHBA members across the state. Selected by a council of industry leaders, the award honors an individual who has shown exemplary service and dedication to continually secure the Sadowski Affordable Housing Trust Fund, which provides additional funding to homeowners who may otherwise not be able to own a home.
The award was presented on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, during the FHBA Fall Leadership Conference at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa in Miramar, Florida.
As Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and Economic Development, Senator Latvala’s proposed budget allocated funding amounts meaningful to Floridians in need of housing assistance. Historical economic data about the multiplying effect of the program’s trust funds suggest that when $205M is spent via its programs, 15,770 jobs are created with an economic impact of $1.5B. (According to the Sadowski Housing Coalition)
“Research shows that housing creates a more stable and nurturing environment for communities and their families,” said Rusty Payton, FHBA CEO/Chief Lobbyist. “It is Senator Latvala’s commitment to funding the Sadowski Trust Fund that provides a leg-up to those who could not otherwise realize the dream of homeownership.”
Established in 1949, the Florida Home Builders Association is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Florida’s local/regional homebuilder associations. FHBA, along with its affiliates, work to create the best possible economic and regulatory environment for members to succeed.
