Four Inducted Into Florida Housing Hall of Fame, Florida Home Builders Association

For Immediate Release:

October 17, 2015 – The Florida Home Builders Association announced today its 2015 Florida Housing Hall of Fame inductees, a recognition awarded by over 7,500 FHBA members across the state. Selected by the FHBA Florida Housing Hall of Fame Board of Governors, this honor is given to men and women who have made significant and lasting contributions to housing in Florida, the building industry, and the FHBA.

The recognition, which is a respected tradition for twenty-five years, was presented to four distinctive members on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, during the FHBA Fall Leadership Conference at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Michelle Delaney

Serving in top leadership positions both at the local and state level, Delaney is a powerhouse member. Her love of the industry is evident by her devotion to the Future Builders of America and her active efforts on the โ€œNo on 4โ€ campaign, reducing impact fees in Orange County, and membership.ย  She also has been a long time Board member at the National Association of Home Builders.

Jack Glenn

Receiving the Florida Housing Hall of Fame posthumously, Glenn was a member of the Southern Building Code Congress and the International Codes Council, participating and influencing the development of the building codes that are used throughout Florida.ย  As an active participant at the Florida Building Commission, no voice carried greater respect than Glenn. He developed and conducted code classes around the state and was the go-to expert for the 411CODE program.

Tom Thornberry

As FHBA Second Vice President, Thornberry championed the future of housing by looking to our youth. He was a charter member of the Florida Home Builders Association Foundation, and financially supported its subsequent company, Future Builders of America. A supporter for FHBA membership growth, Thornberry also heavily promoted the idea of Builders Doing Business with Members.

John Wiseman

As President of the Florida Home Builders Association, Wiseman was instrumental in raising the bar of integrity and professionalism.ย  He oversaw changes to FHBA fiscal policies and to the membership of the board of Florida Home Builders Insurance Company resulting in expanded insurance markets and greater dividends for FHBA. Under the guidance of his tenure as FHBA President, the FHBA Building University of Individual Leadership Development was established.

โ€œThese individuals represent a positive image of Floridaโ€™s building industry,โ€ said Rusty Payton, FHBA CEO/Chief Lobbyist. โ€œEach have performed outstanding housing-related services within the local, state, and national associations, in addition to their communities. We are proud to recognize these four amazing individuals for their exceptional career accomplishments.โ€

Established in 1949, the Florida Home Builders Association is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Florida’s local/regional homebuilder associations. FHBA, along with its affiliates, work to create the best possible economic and regulatory environment for members to succeed.
