I want to be brief this Monday morning. While our lobbying team is working very hard for us in Tallahassee, your profession is under attack! We must make our voice heard, if we are to fend off costly, ill-conceived and frankly baseless cost drivers!
Click here to email your Senate and House member asking for his/her support of the Building Code Bill. In Tallahassee, numbers count and the opponents to our bill are many. We need every member to send a message to their elected officials and let them know that we have just as many, if not more, numbers than our opponents.
No one other than the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) cares about the cost of building a home. During a public hearing on the code bill, one Senator was even appalled that FHBA would dare propose a modification of the fire separation provisions, even though the stricter, costlier changes that were enacted in the current code were not based on any proof that the fire separation distances in the previous code were a problem. She asserted that the construction industry had no business exerting influence over fire code issues and how dare we question the Fire Officials. She voted against the bill in Committee and is committed to leading a “no” vote charge. We need you to act today. Let your legislator know how important it is to pass this bill.
Let your voice be heard TODAY and make our numbers count!
