New Southern Home at SEBC to Be Certified FGBC ‘Florida Green’

The Southeast Building Conference (SEBC), the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), 15 LightYears and builder Steve Robertson announced today the “New Southern Home” at this year’s conference will be certified Florida Green by FGBC.

Celebrating its 41st year, SEBC will be held at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fla., Aug. 1-2. SEBC will host the official Open House and unveiling in Winter Park, Fla.

Steven Robertson Construction is one of Central Floridaโ€™s premier custom and luxury home builders. With over 19,100 certifications since 2000, FGBC is by far the largest certifier of green homes and projects in the state. FGBC provides guidance to builders and developers beyond certification.

Robertson has been a state certified contractor for 17 years, beginning his career as the project manager for his family’s construction business.

He has been recognized with numerous industry awards, his team won the award for first place Grand Award for his $1.5 million-dollar remodel in Windermere, Fla. for the 2014 Parade of Homes and the New American Home, a 6,725 square-foot Plantation-Style home built in Orlando,

Robertson is a past president of the Greater Orlando Builder Association and has served on the Board of Directors for the Florida Home Builders Association.

Unlike other national and international certifications, FGBC are only standards developed with Florida-specific criteria. They address Floridaโ€™s hot-humid climate, environment, unique topography, geology and natural disasters.

The New Southern Home will display technology integration for energy efficiency, security, and entertainment for the luxury home experience, all in a Modern Caribbean design.

Attendees will be able to walk through an outdoor oasis with bocce court, summer kitchen and fire feature. The three bedroom/four-bathroom home features a light-filled, open floor plan with careful attention to detail to create the coveted home environment.

FGBC member 15 LightYears will certify the new home โ€œFlorida Green.โ€ The firm has certified over 1,400 green homes and six high-rise building with FGBC.
