FHBA Awards
Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2024 FHBA Awards Cycle. These awards currently open for nomination include: Builder of the Year, Associate of the Year, Remodeler of the Year, Pinnacle Builder of the Year, Woman of Distinction and Young Building Professional of the Year. FHBA awards advance the purposes of the Association by recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of industry leaders. Award recipients exemplify the best in industry standards for excellence in design and marketing.
Any member or non-member of FHBA may be nominated for any award depending upon the award criteria and the qualifications. No member of an Awards Committee may receive an award during their term of office. In addition to an annual financial review, the Executive Director and the Board of Directors shall review the nature and purpose of all awards on a five-year cycle or more frequently as needed.
The Builder of the Year Award recognizes a leader in the industry who continuously exhibits best practices, phenomenal leadership qualities, and expertise in the field. Builders of the Year are selected annually by the FHBA Past Second Vice Presidentsโ Council, announced during the Summer Conference/SEBC, and presented during the Fall Leadership Conference.

The Stephen D. Gidus Remodeler of the Year Award recognizes a certified industry professional who exhibits best practices, expertise, and exceptional leadership qualities as a Florida remodeler. Remodelers of the Year are selected annually by the Previous Winners of the Stephen D. Gidus Remodeler of the Year Award, announced during the Summer Conference/SEBC, and presented during the Fall Leadership Conference.

The Paul Joyal Pinnacle Builder of the Year Award was established by George Cooper and named after Paul Joyal, a Melbourne home builder and member of the Florida Housing Hall of Fame, who has consistently done business exclusively with members through his 30+ year career.
The Paul Joyal Pinnacle Builder of the Year Award is presented to a member for doing a high percentage of business with FHBA members. The honor is sponsored by and selected by FHBAโs Associate Members/Trades Council, announced during the Summer Conference/SEBC, and presented during the Fall Leadership Conference.

The award honors a woman who is: active in the Home Builders Association and the building industry; a positive role model for other women in the industry; a leader in their company and at their local HBA; a woman with innovative ideas who is willing to share and mentor with others to make a difference in their industry and/or local HBA; a proven leader outside the HBA that draws positive attention to the HBA; respected inside and outside the HBA; and the personification of positive values.
While this award is open to all new or long term HBA members, it strives to encourage members with unrealized leadership potential to move toward taking a more substantive role at the state level. She is the person who dives in to make things happen, often without realizing that someone has noticed her efforts.ย She not only has great ideas, but also brings them to fruition.ย She helps others to make their projects successful and is recognized by her peers.
Award recipients are selected by previous Woman of Distinction Winners from applications received, though there is the option to select a winner based on outstanding observed service. The Winner is announced during the Summer Conference/SEBC and presented at the Fall Leadership Conference.

Established in 2019, the FHBA Young Building Professional Award recognizes young building industry professionals who propel their careers; advance in local, state and national associations; advocate for the building industry, engage with peers; and embed themselves as exceptional members of their communities.
The winners of this award are the future of the industry and set new standards for support and growth of the building industry. They are positioned as valuable assets in otherโs lives both professionally and personally and are here to move the building industry forward.

The Robert & Amy Harper Award recognizes an individual who gives unselfishly of their time and talent to the Future Builders of America (FBA) program, exemplifying the generosity of Robert and Amy Harper. The award recipient is selected by the FBA Foundation and the award is presented at the Fall Leadership Conference.
The Dick Baker Award is named in the honor of the Northeast Florida BA Past President who demonstrated incredible courage and a fighting spirit while suffering from the disease that claimed his life. The Award recognizes individuals who showed the same remarkable resolve in dealing with lifeโs adversities. This award recipient is appointed by the FHBA President and CEO/Chief Lobbyist and is announced at the Fall Leadership Conference.

The Mike Davis Affordable Housing Award was created, and approved by the Executive Committee during the 2011 SEBC, to honor a state or local government official who has championed the cause of affordable housing. This award recipient is appointed by the FHBA Senior Officers, the Governmental Affairs Committee Chair and the CEO/Chief Lobbyist and is announced during the Fall Leadership Conference.
The Champion of Housing Award is presented to a legislator who has shown exemplary service for enhancing the building industry in Florida. This award recipient is appointed by the FHBA Governmental Affairs Committee Chair and the CEO/Chief Lobbyist.
