Estero Fire District Repeals Sprinkler Ordinance

Faced with a looming legal battle, Estero Fire Rescue District officials decided to back off their controversial sprinkler ordinance.

Immediately after an hourlong private session with their lawyer last week, the fire district’s commissioners unanimously repealed their ordinance that required automatic fire sprinkler systems in new one- and two-family homes built in the district, Dick Schweers, the fire commission’s chairman, said Thursday.
