SB 492: Mitigation Banking

Sponsored By: Senator Stan McClain

Mitigation credits are used in each basin located in water management districts to mitigate wetland areas for development.

Several basins have already exhausted their mitigation credits, with more expected to follow. Without an alternative, development in these areas will come to a standstill.

FHBA Position: Seek legislation that would allow mitigation credits in areas depleted of credits to be purchased from surrounding basins located within the water management district and/or reduce the timeline for DEPโ€™s approval of mitigation banking credits.
