Florida Home Builders Association Honors Representative Caldwell, Champion of Housing

For Immediate Release:

July 27, 2016 – The Florida Home Builders Association honored House of Representative Matt Caldwell with its Champion of Housing Award, a recognition awarded by over 7,800 FHBA members across the state. Selected by industry leaders, the award honors legislators who have shown exemplary service for enhancing the building industry in Florida.

The award was presented to Rep. Caldwell on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, during the FHBA sponsored Southeast Building Conference at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida.

Representative Caldwellโ€™s leadership resulted in a water policy bill with a scientific approach to protecting Floridaโ€™s springs and aquifers, and places future regulations in the hands of local entities in lieu of a one-size fits all prohibition.

โ€œFloridaโ€™s sun and waterways are its greatest attraction for homeowners. The water policy bill was an important issue for FHBA,โ€ said Rusty Payton, FHBA CEO/Chief Lobbyist. โ€œCaldwell was key to ensuring that not only was Florida protected and preserved, but also allowed for science to approve sound-homebuilding. He is FHBA and Floridaโ€™s champion.โ€

Established in 1949, the Florida Home Builders Association is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Florida’s local/regional homebuilder associations. FHBA, along with its affiliates, work to create the best possible economic and regulatory environment for members to succeed.
