Charlotte County Commissioner Bill Truex accepted President Donald J. Trump’s invitation to attend Thursday’s Rose Garden ceremony where the president will unveil his plan to modernize America’s legal immigration system.
Truex is chair of the National Association of Counties Immigration Reform Task Force, which provides a forum for county officials to discuss immigration and its impact on local governments.
“As a county and a country, we need comprehensive immigration reform that addresses both border security and developing the diverse, legal workforce we need to grow our economy,” Truex said. “I’m proud to be asked by the president to help solve this crisis.”
