Bennett to Succeed Buck as Director of Governmental Affairs

The Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) Director of Governmental Affairs Director, Douglas Buck will conclude his long-term, and successful, commitment to the organization in the form of retirement on December 31, 2019.

FHBA welcomes Dane Bennett, formally of WellCare Health Plans, Tampa, FL to serve as Interim Director of Governmental Affairs; transitioning into the Director position after Buckโ€™s departure.

Bennett, who comes to FHBA as the previous Governmental Affairs and Public Policy Manager for WellCare, offers a strong resume of legislative leadership. He worked to provide analyses and amendments on legislation covering prior authorization protocols and turnaround times, Pharmacy Benefit Manager disclosures, fail first exemptions, and mandates to contract with Federally Qualified Health Centers.

His earlier ties to governmental assignments include a masterโ€™s degree in Public Administration and Policy from Florida State University, where Bennett went immediately to the Capitol; working as a Legislative Aide to Senator Lizbeth Benacquisto for four years.

Bennett is a U.S. Marine Corps reserve, and recently married.
