The frantic pace of the legislature continues. The building permit transparency bill sponsored by Senator Keith Perry and Representative Jayer Williamson was approved by both the House and Senate and sent to the Governor for his approval. FHBA President Bill Truex has already transmitted a letter to Governor DeSantis recording our support.
Representative Byron Donalds presented HB 207 on the House Floor and artfully handled several questions from Representative Barbara Watson. The bill eventually passed the House and is now in the Senate. Its companion bill, SB 144 by Senator Joe Gruters, passed its final Committee of Reference and now awaits a hearing by the full Senate.
Both the House and Senate Mitigation Banking Bills have been approved by their final committee of reference and await full chamber approval.
Meanwhile, both the House and Senate moved budget proposals out of committee. Both budgets double the amount of monies dedicated to unlicensed activities. The chambers vary with respect to Sadwoski funding. The Senate provides full funding, but with a significant portion going towards the Hurricane Michael area. The House proposal funds only 40%, with all of it going to Hurricane Michael.
